Snowday
January 23, 2012

With January nearly over, Elsie the Weather Dog finally gets to report from some snow. Elsie discovered that snow makes an equally good artistic medium as tempera paint for capturing the nuances of her steps. Although the results were short-lived as temperatures rose and rain fell. Elsie the Weather Dog says, "At least this is one medium I can actually eat! Although it makes my insides cold!" Here's to hoping everyone on the East Coast enjoyed our brief time with the white stuff!

Surviving Hurricane Irene
August 28, 2011

Elsie the Weather Dog reported live from Reading, Pennsylvania. Eastern Pennsylvania took a solid blow from Hurricane Irene as you can see by the map below. Around 12:30am on August 28, we were right in the thick of things.

Around 1:30am we lost power resulting in a flooded basement. At 6am we decided it was time to start bailing out the water by hand. After a few hours of assisting by standing completely in the way as we carried very heavy buckets of filthy water up the stairs and outside, Elsie the Weather Dog decided she needed a break.

Later that morning, Elsie the Weather Dog headed outside to survey the damage. Other than some downed tree limbs and excess water, the property looked good.

Around 12:30pm power was restored, the sub-pump took over bailing the rest of the water and Elsie the Weather Dog, knowing that all was well and safe in her world once again, decided to call it a day.

Elsie is grateful it wasn't worse where she was but wants to acknowledge all those places and people that are continuing to suffer the aftermath of this storm. Her thoughts are with you.
